Schloss Kogl, built in 1750 is s short drive from Salzburg and just two hours from Vienna. The Schloss is set within the rolling hills and snow capped mountains of the glorious Austrian countryside.The surrounding area is part of the 'Salzkammergut' which is renound for its many beautiful lakes, including the Attersee, Austria's largest. This unique location offers swimming, fishing, surfing, sailing and hiking, and hunting expeditions can be arranged. This is also the perfect spot for the whole family to just relax and enjoy 'old Austria'.
The Schloss and its surrounding estate have been owned by the family of Baron Mayr-Mlenhof since 1872 and is currently the residence of the 4th generation who work in forestry and agriculture. The property is set in 75 acres of private park and includes a clay tennis court and a small circular pool. There is also a charming 'tea house' on the Attersee, 6 km from the Schloss where guests can swim and enjoy lazy days by the water. There is also an abundance of cultural events and activities, including visiting the Emperor's summer palace in Bad Ischl or attending an intimate concert in one of the local village churches.
The entire Schloss has been massively restored and brought up to 21st Century standards. The nine bedrooms have all been completely refurbished and now all have en-suite bathrooms. The quality of the bedrooms is fantastic and every room has been decorated to a very high standard. The dining room, sitting rooms and communal areas are also all in beautiful condition and comfortably furnished. These rooms are all on the 1st floor whilst the bedrooms are spread across the 2nd floor. The family occupy a separate wing and allow guests complete privacy. The guest wing has its own lift.
The area has masses to offer guests including some wonderful golf courses, hiking and mountaineering, swimming & sailing from the 'tea house', horse-riding, fishing, hunting on the Schloss estate and use of their bicycles. Salzburg is an easy 30 minute drive and even Vienna is only a 2 hour train ride, so can be visited for the day. Schloss Kogl provides a unique and private glimpse into an era, long since past, in one of Austria's most enchanted and culturally fascinating regions.
