Boxted hall is a moated house which dates back to the 14th Century and which has been lived in by the same family for 600 years. It remains a family home of great charm and the property is in excellent condition having been recently totally refurbished. You enter the house into a huge hall with a large fireplace and mahogany panelled walls. Off this you find a beautiful drawing room, an elegant dining room and a more informal billiards room.
Upstairs there are eleven bedrooms, although four are attic rooms and only really suited to children. The seven main bedrooms are stunning and five are en-suite with completely modernised bathrooms. The house has a really cosy and warm atmosphere, which immediately puts you at ease. Outside are extensive gardens and parkland with rare trees and a swimming pool. The estate is pleasantly secluded and yet only 90 minutes from London.
This is a wonderful house for weekend house parties or a family celebration. The main hall can seat 70 and the house really lends itself to parties. The estate can provide excellent clay pigeon shooting, riding can be arranged in the area and there is lovely countyside to explore. In front of the house, guests will find two ancient walnut trees, one the oldest and the other the tallest in Europe. The river Glem makes it way slowly behind the house through several walled gardens with listed summer houses.
