LTR can organise an exclusive house party for you and your guests in one of their finest properties

A Highland Fling

Based at The Tower of Lethendy  Perthshire

Suited for 14 guests

Come for a Highland Fling in August, which is Scotland’s finest month and when the country is buzzing with every kind of fun activity. Arrive into Edinburgh airport where you will be greeted by LTR director, Andrew Loyd. From here you will be whisked up to the Tower in a small luxury coach.

On arrival, a champagne reception awaits and then you will be shown your room and allowed to unpack and unwind. A light lunch will be served, followed by a lazy afternoon getting settled in – stroll in the garden, play tennis or even a round of golf on the private 18 hole golf course. To combat the rigours of jet lag, Christina Knight, will be along in the afternoon to give some massages.

On day 2, your Highland Fling gets down to business with the Perth Highland Games just along the road from the Castle. This uniquely Scottish experience includes Pipe band contests, Highland dancing, tug o war, various field events and lots of local vendors with an amazing array of crafts and sporting items.

In the evening, there will be a fun whisky tasting hosted by Ian Stothard, featuring a huge selection of fine malts. Guests can then ‘stagger’ down to dinner…

We thought on day 3, time for some fresh air and 18 holes at Kingsbarns, which is located on the outskirts of St Andrews and talked about as a future championship course. Lunch will be in the club house.

Non-golfers can explore the East Fife fishing villages of Crail, Anstruther, Elie, St Monans and Pittenweem. Wonderful old seaside villages with romantic harbours and lovely beaches, plus excellent pubs and antique shops.

All parties would meet early afternoon in St Andrews for tea and a spot of cashmere shopping. Also wander around Scotland’s oldest university, view the old cathedral and pay homage to the Royal & Ancient.

Day 4 sees everyone heading just a little north to the House of Bruar for lunch and some serious retail therapy. Then a hearty walk in the Hermitage National Park or if this is too energetic, a visit to Blair Castle and the old town of Pitlochry.

Day 5 will be spent at Glamis Castle, childhood home of the late HM the Queen Mother and the setting for Macbeth. Lunch in the Victorian kitchen followed by a visit to the fabulous gardens at the House of Pitmuies or for those Castled-out, a round of golf at Rosemount, which is set amongst stunning woodland.

Relaxation on day 6 in the morning with golf, tennis or a swim at Lethendy, followed by an early lunch and then off to Ednburgh. Guests on arrival can disperse to the museum of their choice and reconvene early evening for dinner at Oloroso, Edinburgh’s hottest new restaurant. Then onto Edinburgh Castle for the Military Tattoo, which is the highlight of the annual festival and an amazing experience. I defy anyone not to be moved by the lone piper on the battlements playing ‘amazing grace’ followed by the massed regimental bands of the highland division.

On your final day, golfers will end their Highland fling with a round at Gleneagles King’s course, whilst others explore the area, antique shop in Aberfeldy, visit Scone Palace on the outskirts of Perth and shop in Blairgowrie.

A piper will entertain you, escort you into dinner, dress the haggis and then leave you to enjoy a farewell dinner of traditional Scottish fare!

Hopefully an adventure which will remain in your thoughts for many years….
